Despite the popular image of Victorian Women being repressed and proper, many women in the U.K. and in America lived lives more adventurous than any fictional Steampunk heroine. This presentation introduces some of these women including Ada Lovelace, the first computer programmer; Amelia Edwards, travel writer and archaeologist in Egypt; Mary Anning, palaeontologist, and spies on both sides of the Civil War.
